Chimney Demolition

We're in the final stages, finally, of dealing with this foundation hassle. . . the professionals are coming in Tuesday (the 14th) to help us put in the new support beams down in the basement and get the house leveled out. Our outlook is so cheery at the beginning of each task. . .Our last step of prep work is to destroy the chimney which is dragging down the south side of the house. . .

Demolition of the upper, actually chimney went pretty fast. . . things slowed down dramatically once we got down to the lower firebox/fireplace area. . . .

Um, not so cheery, there's a hole in the side of my house!A view from inside the house, looking out through where the fire place used to be!

Brian looking down into the basemement from outside. . .
Tons and tons of bricks. . . The Brickyard . . .

All boarded up tight, hopefully it won't stay like this very long!

We salvaged some of the bricks that were in better shape, we have aspirations of using them to build an outdoor firepit in the backyard sometime down the road, for now they'll just stay stacked here. . .

By the end of the day, we were a dusty, sooty mess, but we got the job done and are ready for Tuesday! Thanks again for all the help dad and Lyle!
