Iris @ EIGHT MONTHS OLD

THIRTY-FOUR weeks old, ALREADY!?!
The months are absolutely FLYING by!

We celebrated by going out to frozen yogurt. . .
Iris heartily enjoyed the vanilla/chocolate swirl.

NEW:
CRAWLING - guess we'd better start thinking about baby proofing the house!
Pulling herself up in her crib - time to lower the mattress!
Round-house slapping my boob while she's nursing.
Pulling the collar of my shirt down when she decides she want to nurse.
Fake crying when mommy leaves the room
Not letting daddy console her at night...add this to the DISLIKE column for mommy....
Camping
SUPERFICIAL:
Size 9-12 month clothing
Transitioning to size 3 diapers
Height:
Weight:
Bumps and bruising from crawling/pulling self up on things

EATING/DRINKING (NEW):
fish
ice cream/frozen yogurt (we'd better be careful so she doesn't end up with a sweet tooth like her mom!)
berries! SHE LOVES THEM (raspberries, blackberries, blueberries)

LIKES:
Eating Berries
Scooting around on the floor - becoming more and more independent!
Being outside
Clapping - she's trying to figure it out - cue more arm flailing!
Feeding herself

DISLIKES:
Toppling over while she's scooting on the floor
Loud, sudden noises will result in the biggest pouty lip you've ever seen followed by giant alligator tears.

SLEEPING:
Holding steady at - Sporadic. Still a great morning napper and a sub-par afternoon napper.
She moves around a TON while she sleeps and gets herself in the most precarious positions!
Sleeps on her stomach sometimes...and if she's really tired, with her mouth open.

MOTOR SKILLS:
This girl has quite the dexterity! She will pick up the smallest particle off the rug with her thumb and pointer finger-it's fun to watch. Not so fun is the constant reminder that I need to vacuum!
Crawling. Officially. Still slow and deliberate, but it's happening.
She is also bear crawling -where she gets up on all fours and crabs around, and/or planks for a bit before getting back into a crawling or sitting position.
Starting to try to feed herself - we're trying to get her to actually put the food in her mouth instead of squishing it to death in her hands...mildly successful thus far.

PERSONALITY/COMMUNICATION:
Short little grunts when she wants to get your attention
Clamps mouth shut when she's full or bored with what she's eating.
Starting to shake her head no
I think she's trying to sign "all done" but she also could just be swinging her arms around wildly like she's been prone to doing lately.
