Goodbye Wickey Girl - We miss you already

Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole. ~Roger Caras

Today was a hard day for me and Brian. We had to make the decision that it was time for us to let Wickey go. In November we had found out that she was riddled with cancer and she has been steadily declining since then. The other night when we grabbed her leash to take her for a walk, she didn't even stand up. Wickey loved her walks, so Brian and I knew the time had come.

We have only had Wickey with us for about 11 months, but she was no less a part of our family and there are really no words to describe how much we have come to love her. She made our house her own almost immediately, she was fiercely loyal but with a gentle heart. I do believe that she knew we had saved her from a life of concrete at the shelter and that created a strong and special bond between us.

Everyone who met her fell in love with her, we were so lucky to find such a sweet girl and to have her as a part of our little family. There's no doubt we'll have other animals as a part of our family in the future, but they will have BIG PAWS to fill.
We love you and miss you already Wickeywick.

Rottweiler: a dog of abundant strength, black coated with clearly defined rich tan markings, whose powerful appearance does not lack nobility and which is exceptionally well suited to being a companion, service and working dog.

RIP - Wickey

Sending love and comfort your way, my friend. I've lost a few very loved pets in my lifetime and know how very very hard it is.
