HOLY SMOKES, WE'RE HOME OWNERS!!

You read it right, the reason Brian and I have been MIA from our blog, is that we've been buying a house!! There's nothing like a mortgage payment to make you feel all grown up.

3603 NE 70th Avenue, Portland 97213
It has been a long and trying process. Brian and I put an offer in on this place May 20th, and we got the keys July 29th. Long story short: the house was a short-sale, on it's way to forclosure - there were both trustees of the estate as well a bank involved in the selling of the house- the trustees and the bank couldn't agree on some things - attorneys got involved - the agent working for the bank was either a moron or just a jerk - we almost lost the house to auction, TWICE - BUT, everything got worked out, they took our hard earned money, and now we will have a little place of our own to call HOME!!

Here are some pictures that we took during the initial inspection. As you can see, we have a lot of work ahead of us!

The driveway to the left of the house, back to the detached garage.

The covered patio in the backyard, off of the garage.

The back yard has a deck, which will be nice!

The Living room, notice the beautiful wallpaper, it is EVERYWHERE!

Looking in the the Dining Room from the Living Room

The kitchen will need a ton of work as far as updating everything and utilizing space for cupboards and such, but it is fairly large for an older home.

The bathroom is one of the nicer rooms. . .two large windows allow a lot of light, there is an old tub, which we'll most likely move down to the basement bathroom, and put in a shower on the main floor.

Bedroom #1 - eventually the Master Bedroom

Bedroom #2

The house also has a 3/4 basement, but it was so packed full of junk during the inspection, the pics didn't really show anything.

The overall specs on the house right now include: 1070 sq.ft. on the main floor, fire place, two bedroom, one bath, basement. As far as the unfinished basement goes, we hope to eventually add a bedroom , re-do the current bathroom that is down there, put in a craft room for me, and have enough space for an entertainment room.

We have a ton of work cut out for us, but we are super excited to get started!! Check back often as we will be posting updates as we work on each project!
